Just hooked up my new Onkyo DX-7555 and after about 4-5 minutes of play it shuts off. I suppose it could be a bad power supply but I figured I see what others had to say.

Onkyo receivers run warm. Make sure it's not overheating and never put anything directly on the top of a receiver unless it never gets more than slightly warm. You may need to add cooling fans.

If you're absotively, posilutely sure there are no teeny, tiny shorts in the speaker cables, take/send it back now. That's what warranties are made for.

This is a CD player and heat is not the issue here. As a follow up I removed the RCA's and left the unit to play, it did not turn off so it's an internal problem. I also tried a different set of RCA's only to get the same result, the unit shuts down. So looks like this will be going back :(

I'm sure the wires are not the issue. I watched a movie with the DVD player and listened to 4 hours of music with no issues. What I have here is a bad CD player. First time I purchased anything that was "factory reconditioned" and it's likely to be the last

How much clearance do you have between your receiver and whatever is above it?
