I have it but then again I have just about every copy or release of Blade Runner sold. The sound and PQ was a bit better then the DVD's but wasn't huge, but then again I could be wrong. If you don't have this in any other format I'd recommend it, but my tastes seem to be differant than most.

Is the director's cut; a blue ray version of the recent DVD release? This is one of my favorite movies and it's such a visual spectacle, I could see myself buying another copy.

It's five disks and has, Blade Runner: The Final Cut, 1982 THEATRICAL VERSION, 1982 INTERNATIONAL VERSION, 1992 DIRECTOR'S CUT. Plus, DOCUMENTARY DANGEROUS DAYS: MAKING BLADE RUNNER, and a ton of extras.
From Amazon.
In celebration of Blade Runner's 25th anniversary, director Ridley Scott has gone back into post production to create the long-awaited definitive new version. Blade Runner: The Final Cut, spectacularly restored and remastered from original elements and scanned at 4K resolution, will contain never-before-seen added/extended scenes, added lines, new and improved special effects, director and filmmaker commentary, an all-new 5.1 Dolby® Digital audio track and more. Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Edward James Olmos, Joanna Cassidy, Sean Young, and Daryl Hannah are among some 80 stars, filmmakers and others who participate in the extensive bonus features. Among the bonus material highlights is Dangerous Days, a brand new, three-and-a-half-hour documentary by award-winning DVD producer Charles de Lauzirika, with an extensive look into every aspect of the film: its literary genesis, its challenging production and its controversial legacy. The definitive documentary to accompany the definitive film version.

What do you mean it wasn't huge? This is the best Blade Runner has ever looked. The SD DVD looked awful, a terrible transfer that was only a marginal improvement over VHS, while this disc received 5 stars for video. The BD is one of the best remastered older films that I have seen so far - I was impressed with how well the remastering made this movie look given the age of the film. The audio isn't quite as impressive; noticeably better than the SD DVD but not as good as newer mastered audio tracks. If you like this movie, the BD is as good as it gets right now.
Another from the era that also looks and sounds great is Close Encounters.

I had meant the audio, not the PQ.

I read that the production company actually went to great lengths to make this Bluray the best it could be.
Here is a great article on the entire process of what they did to the film (from Sound and Vision Magazine) http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/features/2624/blade-runner-how-great-hd-is-made.html

One of the extras on the discs somewhere is a documentary on the restoration process as well.

I just got The Final Cut on DVD from Netflix. I have never seen this before and am wondering if the PQ is gonna suck.

it's tops. the other two older movies I think of that have very good transfers are How the West was Won, close encounters of the third kind, pale rider. The Criterion titles, some of them won't top any PQ lists, but formidable jobs. I recommend Bottle Rocket if you want to laff your butt off, yet have a beautiful and consistent pic in the meanwhile.
Regarding the dead format, HDDVD, Darkman and The Thing take the cake.

No, it's still Blade Runner. I'm sure if you Googled it you would get the full scoop but I'm pretty sure that audio and special features are new and improved type of thing.
I just saw it for the first time and it made me realize how young all the stars were not so very long ago. I guess it really was long ago but it sure doesn't seem like it.

There are a few different versions, all of which are included in the set. The final cut represents what Riddley Scott considers his definitive director's cut of the movie. To be honest, I only noticed one or two small differences.

The "Final Cut" that was in the 2007 DVD is my favorite version of one of my favorite movies. I will definitely have to get this one.

The missus and I watched it yesterday courtesy of Netflix. Ridley Scott is an amazing talent and he did a fine job with this revision. I honestly can't remember if I saw a VHS or DVD of this movie, or just saw it in the theater. It has been a couple of decades since it original release. But we were pretty blown away by the BD PQ and the SQ. The Final Cut has all the graphics and cinematography of a quality, NEW picture. It doesn't seem like a 27 year old piece at all. This is a must-have flick IMHO.
Alex, have you watched it yet? What do you think?

I watched the DVD and I agree with your take on it. I had no idea that Daryl Hannah was that athletic, my goodness. :D Oh and the general quality of the graphics was 'almost' on par with today's standards but that just added to my enjoyment level. I was able to say 'hey, that's pretty good for back then'.
When I step up to Blu ray I will watch it in that format as well. :)

She probably had a stand-in. Even when actors can do stuff like that, directors don't want to risk them getting injured so they put in a double.
