I really liked this movie in DVD, good cast, good story, great special effects, so figured I'd get the BD copy that just came out. Wow, this has to be one of the best BD re-releases out there, I think anyway.
It has both the theatrical and extended versions, and is in 5.1 DTS (personally I can't stand Dolby, much prefer DTS). The picture quality is just outstanding. At first, when they are in NYC it doesn't look all that much better but once the ship gets underway things really start looking good. The scenes with Kong, the dinosaurs, the bugs are really amazing. It's seams that the darker scenes really stand out.
I also got it fairly cheap, think it was $ 24 (Can.).

I really liked this movie when it came out. I could think of nothing more then owning it and playing it at home. Now however, I don't feel I want to get a Blu Ray version with DTS.

Boy how the times change.

Are you saying you don't like the DTS sound format?
I find DTS surround just sounds so much better than DD. The surround effect just seems to be much more realistic, smoother than DD. Which to me just sounds like there will be sound from just a individual speaker at a time, with no blending of multiple speakers, not sure if I'm describing it coherently?

We already have at least 2 threads about how bad this movie was. I personally thought it was one of the worst cast movies ever, and it could have stood to have no less than 1hr cut out of it. DTS rocks, but DD is no slouch either.

Yeah, sorry but I thought this movie totally blew also. I've been thinking about getting the BD just for demo material though. I'm sure the dino fight scenes must sound great.

But an extended version?!?!?! Are you kidding? The movie needs to be shorter, not longer.

I really don't see why people don't like this movie, to me, and I've watched it lots of times, it's just hugly entertaining, plus I'd rather have a long movie, than a short one.
I think I'll just take my movies and go home, wait, I am home.

I have enough demo movies. I'd rather not double dip a movie I'm not that interested in anymore.
