I was pretty set on getting the axiom w22's, which are on-wall, along with a total 7.1 or 7.2 setup for a 5500cubic foot room. Projector/screen sofa in front part of room and pool table in the back half of the room. Music will generally be used for background music while playing pool or entertaining. I don't do any critical listening. At times we may use the speakers for movies on a large 100" screen or so.

I posted a thread a few weeks back about axioms and I feel bad putting a similar post, but my builders AV guy really likes triads. I don't have any prices yet, but have heard triads are more expensive. I am having a hard time finding a place that lets me listen to either the Triads, becuase they are custom, or the Axioms, because they are sent directly from Axiom.

I know many people have told me to shy away from the in/on-wall speakers and get the floorstanding. But I feel if I have 2 fronts, a center, 2 sides, 2 rears and 2 subs I should do just fine. I never turn up the decibels too high...we have little kids and they enjoy listening to good background music aswell.

Does anyone have any experience comparing the two...Axioms vs. Triads? From a best bang for buck perspective? From a sound perspective?

Thanks for the help!!!

The Triads I think will be 2x the Axioms’ price. They are also 4 ohm speakers which may/not be an issue with your receiver. I just did a quick search for Houston, found some possible installation help options.

I'm with AVRat on this one... Triad speakers are over priced for what you're getting. When I use to work for AA (Audio Advice) in North Carolina we carried Triads, and Speakercraft when it came to in-walls. The majority of the installs requested Speakercraft over Triads 95% of the time. I've actually listened to Triad in-walls, they were nothing to write home about... But I haven't had the luxury of listening to any of Axiom's offerings... I'm sure they make a fine product based on the Axiom fans here on this forum. But ultimately it's based on your listening preference. I know you're into in-walls at this point, but have you considered bookshelf speakers mounted on the wall and angled towards the sitting area? If you get a chance take a look at Kef, NHT, Era, Energy, PSB or Polk Audio. I'm sure you'll find something within your price range.

ps: In regards to the manufacturers I suggested, I've either owned or listen to them in my audioholic journey lol.
