Well thats what the best buy "tech" said. Its right where the 4.3 bars would be, but its dark on the right and bright on the left? Its only about 3 mm wide on both sides and is only visable when certain colors are on the screen. Can anyone lend some tips on correcting what i call image retention?? Remember its bright on the left and dark on the right, so if it were burn in wouldnt it be the same on both sides??
Thanks in advance, mike

It would be the same color (dark, dark grey or black) on both sides, it would be a bit wider than 3 mm and both sides would be the same width and, I believe, they would be there when the power is off as well, at least on a CRT it is.

I love when they treat people like us as the everyday consumer. It was very entertaning to bust him out on his diagnosis. I called the store manager and was politly rude with him, and they are going to send out another "tech" (I use the term lightly).

Any way you can take a picture of the screen and post it?

I just had pixel problems with my Westinghouse not too long ago. There was a static looking line down the left edge, but only during some programming. There was also a bunch of bad pixels...blue ones in shadowing and white ones in bright images. It was great for the money at first, but longevity on the Westinghouses suck.
Do you have a protection plan on it? Or is it under warranty still?

You should make sure your lcd can handle a pc input, and wont damage the panel. Then go to youtube.com search for pixel repair, there are some 3 minute clips of primary colors that change in rapid succession. it is "supposed" to un lock frozen pixels! Be careful if your response time is poor it may freeze!!!!!

Old thread, but I am faced with the same issue with my westy 42". I have the best buy extended warranty, but they claim 'image burn' and won't cover repair or replacement. Any words of advice to reverse their decision?
Thanks,

No burn in on LCD.
But, my westinghouse does have a couple of dead/stuck pixels, so watch out for that.
