Hey everyone, I'm looking for the best 37-42" HDTV thats preferably LCD, 1080p, and excellent picture quality. Just well, best.
I'm probably leaning towards LCD because I plan to use my tv for gaming (xbox360) and as a computer monitor display. I'm thinking 37-42 inches will be very ideal as I'm going to be pretty close to the screen and it'll be plenty big enough for my bedroom.
Initally I was planning on spending $800 but as I looked more into it, my prce range quickly rose LOL!:D I'm willing(but not preferably) to spend to 1200 and maybe even a few thousand above that, but I just want a QUALITY tv that will last me quite a few years. But I don't really want to spend over 2k for a size like this.
If anyone has any recommendations or comments, it'll be greatly appreciated.

How close is close? How many feet exactly???
Panasonic plasmas. Costco often gets their own "model #s". That whole price protection for others stores thingy. Trust me, those other stores need it too!

Welcome to the forum, Seth!
"Best" means different things to different people, even if you narrow it down to video quality: color reproduction, black level, off-angle viewing, glare, motion blur, and so on. So, the recommendations that you get are going to be based on people's own preferences.
Where abouts do you live? Costco is a very well known chain of stores in the USA. I ask because it might help us figure out what you can get for the price you want to pay.
If I may, I'd like to give a suggestion. Buying the absolute "best" 37"-42" TV today will cost quite a premium, and in under a year, there will be something better...and probably at a lower price. TV technology is changing quite quickly at this point in time. I would suggest that you think through the cost/benefit of this thing. For example, if you spend $800 on a good TV instead of $2000 on a great TV, then you now have $1200 left over that you could spend in two years on another TV that will likely be better than the $2000 one is right now. Just my thoughts on it.

What about resolution for the computer monitor? I was reading another thread from below and from their talk, it suggested that my size of tvs had bad resolutions for sitting close.
I like in Arkansas by the way, I'll look up closco in a minute.
Thanks for the replys

How close is close?
Well when I use it as a computer and gaming, probably 2 to 4 feet away.

2' for 42", good luck:) If for gaming, and a 42" , imo plasma would by the choice. As for the 699-799 42" pannys, they can be had for that price by every retailer that carries the line.
