Just thought I'd tell you guys about today.

So finally, after three weeks of waiting, DirecTV came and hooked up my HR22 HDDVR and my service in general.

During all that, I got a call from Best Buy. I bought a Westy 42" in June, 06. I bought the 4 year protection plan for $150. Recently, I had a tech come over since my only HDMI input on it was giving messed up pixels here and there. He said he'd order the card and see if it was available. Well it's not. So I went to Best Buy and brought in my old TV. They gave me $1100 credit towards a new one (after 3 hours of them trying to figure out how to process the whole thing). I was allowed to pay the difference on anything more expensive. So I ended up buying a Samsung LN46A530. I didn't have a lot of time to decide, so I had my wife look at some reviews over the phone. The one I got has a 5 out of 5 from 31 reviews on Best Buy's website. In the end, I paid $321 more for a brand new 46". I think it worked out good.

Thanks for reading.

Joe

So there was not a firmware fix for it? Hmmm that is interesting. I'm glad you were able to make the protection plan work for you.:) I did not buy that but now after your story am sorry I did not.

I don't know if there is a firmware fix, but I've heard the only real way to update the firmware is by replacing the mother board, which was determined bad by the tech who came over to repair my tv. He ordered it, and BB called and said it's not available anymore, and that's why they needed to replace my tv. The service plan cost me $149 when I bought the tv....one of the best $149 I ever spent.

Four more inches and a 2+ year newer, better brand TV - you came out of that one smelling like a rose. Congrats!! :)

And it smells great!!!

It couldn't have came at a better time, I've been itching to get a new tv, and all I wanted was new, better brand and a little bigger. It couldn't have worked out better.:D
