Oppo dv 980 h freezes

My Oppo 980 stutters and freezes. it is only a month old. The DVD s that it has had problems with are very playable. I have the current firmware. Any suggestions?:eek:

Call Oppo. Sounds like you got a bad unit. They will almost certainly replace or repair it. Was it bought new, direct from them or used?

I bought it brand new. They emailed the basic things to do. ie. fix its to try. I reseated the firmware, unplugged and used a skosh of compressed air. unfortunately all of the drives that i have had that have problems have problems. The simple fixes never work. Now its just the hassle of the RMA process. Time to break out my bullet proof Sony again. Products from China.:rolleyes:

Here is a good question. On my Oppo i have my HDMI setting in the audio set up menu to auto. This seems to work well all the time. feedback?

I don't see why that wouldn't be fine, especially if you say it is working.

Since I did all of the simple things suggested it seems to be working fine. But like i said earlier I believe it is just a matter of time. The player has no problem playing brand new pristine disks. It just when it gets a hold of something older. The reason i know i have problem is i can insert the same disk into my PS3 and it works fine. For $ 170 dollars for a DVD player i expect it to read almost everything.

It must be an alignment issue or something is not adjusted right. I was able to read some pretty bad discs in mine, even burned ones, without issue. I think I only ran into one disc that it wouldn't read at all.
