Anyone know if they ever made LOR on HD DVD? Is there a place to get a list of available movies on HD DVD?

They have never made LOR (Trilogy) on HD DVD.

It doesn't exist on HD period AFAIK (unless there is a DVHS version). They are currently working on The Hobbit, so I wouldn't expect to see it on Blu-ray anytime soon either, though New Line is releasing titles on BD and it was unofficially confirmed that LOTR would be on BD, no date has been given.

I read very recently someone saying that it will be the theatrical cuts for Bluray, not the EE versions. Don't quote me on it . . .

More double dipping for more people = $$$$

I have to admit, it could be really, really, really hard to wait for the EE versions.

I read somewhere (Digital bits?) that Jackson is working up some new material for the BD versions of the LOTR films. If this is true, then they must have made amends after that vicious lawsuit.

As soon as the EE editions come out on BR then I'll jump on that bandwagon with a new projector and player. My fear is that the global recession may slow BR adoption with folks continuing to go for SD versions that are cheaper.

Yeah, there is no way I'm buying a non-Extented Eddition.
If anything, I hope they will ADD even more footage.:D

I mean with a 50GB BD, they could easily make each movie 4 hrs long with 7.1 DTS-HD MA.:D

Isn't HD DVD all but dead? Why would Jackson put a major release on a moribund format?

I won't be buying the BDs if they are the theatrical cuts either.
