I know its 4 ohms speaker, but will those receivers drive it without any problems?

No they will need a separate amp as they are 4ohm as Mazer stated ....A 8 ohm receiver will have trouble because at some points the load will drop to 2 ohms with the Axioms.

The stand alone amplifier, AudioSource AMPONE / AMP ONE, is the most inexpensive solution that can drive virtually any impedance without issue. You can find it for $130-$150 online, new. It is made surprisingly well. It measures exactly to claimed manufacturer specs in credible 3rd party analysis. Just connect this up to the pre-outs of your receiver(assuming you have pre-outs).

The price certainly is right if they are in good condition. I was thinking I could get 8-900 for mine when I sell them. Maybe not :(

Trying to power the M80's with a receiver is asking for trouble. This is especially true if you are powering a full 7.1 or even a 5.1 set-up. This scenario is really taxing the receiver and will in most cases drive it into protection mode rather quickly. The receivers that could handle such a strain are going to be more high end in excess of $1000 or more. Bugbitten, had his M80's running off of (2) Outlaw Monoblocks and they sounded awesome. He was using a Denon 3805 as a Pre/pro when I got to audition them. You might want to send him a PM and ask him this question. Hope this helps.

zeuiax. Thats an exellent price for those speakers.

While the M80 dips ever so briefly into 3ohm territory, it is solidly 4ohms and above throughout the frequency range.

Any Denon will do the trick. I personaly run a Sherwood RD-6500 (which I paid all of $70ish for refurb) and it barely gets warm. Sherwood Newcastle gets the thumbs up from Axiom.

I know a few people have used higher end Onkyos and there are a couple with RX-V1800s, but I do not know about the 606 or the 663.

It probably depends in part how loud you listen and how big your room is. I am in an 11x20 room and usually listen at a modest 80db so I don't draw much power.

The 663 has pre-outs so you could try it and if it can't handle the load, add an outboard amp like the ampone that Chris suggested or even a pro amp like the Behringer A500.

I was just listening to a Whitesnake concert that I recorded on my dish dvr off HDNET and I had my M80s cranked and the drums were visceral. I love my speakers. I have the outlaw monoblocks pushing. I'm not even running a sub worth a crap yet either.

It depends where in the frequency spectrum, the lowest impedance dips and how far below 4 ohms it goes. If the dip is near or in the bass region and your trying to fill a huge room with loud sound, then I would recommend moving to a NAD or buying a pair of Outlaw monoblocks to drive them. If the room is fairly small and you won't play them to loud, you may be able to get away with it.

Thank you all for replying. I spoke to an Axiom rep and according to him any Denon receiver should drive these in a smaller room without much heating problem. Though they are too big for my 10 X12 living room and suggested me M60s.

Now I'm looking at KEF iq5 at $450/per or psb T45 image series.

Axiom not only makes great speaker, these guys are amazing when it comes to customer service. You did the right thing by contacting them to see what they have to say. Before I purcahsed my M60s, I was actually thinking aboout going with M80s. I spoke with Amie, Ian and for quite a while with Alan Loft. Rather than pushing M80s, after finding out what my setup was going to be and what I will be driving them with, they suggested M60s which I bought (in really nice cherry chestnut wood VaSallo series). For surrounds they justified going with QS8s in place of QS4s. I would say the price you are getting for these M80s is really sweet, go for it man. Axiom will always be there to help you with anything you would ever need.
If I had seen this post sooner, I would have offered you my EP350. I sold it for $450. I am buying EP500. Good bass is never a bad thing, is it?

I have the PSBT45s and I'm extremely pleased with them. They aren't as bright as the axioms and you may find ttheir highs veiled at first but after extended listening, you'll notice that the hghs are there in every detail in a non fatiguing way.

You may also want to check out Totem as well.

Totem doesn't make a floor stander in that price range.

Thats where you need to come in and audtion for yourself. Our recommendations could be spot on if we heard the same things you did. But, what you may consider bright might be laid back for us or visa versa as an exmaple. You need to audition.
