10 months:eek:. That is pathetic. They should be sending you a new upgraded model for that pain in the butt...I hope it works out quickly for you.
Bummer! That's no fun. :( Thanks for the info, though.

I would bit%& and moan to Toshiba over that. 10 months of performance , thats unacceptable brother.......
Keep us updated on the repair process. I'm curious how Toshiba handles it and how fast the turnaround is.

Before I had my current Panny plasma I had a Toshiba Regza and it died after 2 months. It actually died on it's 2 month birthday too. I contacted Toshiba and they wanted to replace the panel and it was going to cost a whooping $3500 plus labor to replace the thing on a $1500 TV. Thank god since I bought it from Sears they are an authorized service center, so I called them up and they just ended up replacing the entire TV so that's when I went for the plasma.

Got my display back today. Gone for exactly one month. Has a couple of scratches, but that was expected.:(

Got my fingers crossed that my Regza survives. But I did get the 3 year Best Buy warranty. I've already had a Samsung LCD go bad and the replacement they gave me under warranty wasn't very good. Something's off in the color that I can't seem to tune out. So now I get the warranty on TVs even though I know it may just be a total ripoff. Once bitten, twice shy I guess but at least I'm covered.

Im looking to get a REGZA and would like to know what REGZA model died on you?
I've had a Regza 52XF550 for about 4 months now and so far (knock on wood) it is nearly flawless. Just keep in mind that all manufacturers occasionally have issues and electronics of all kinds occassionally go bad prematurely...but in general, if it survives the first ninety days there is a good chance that it will last a very long time.
If you want 'peace of mind' (read 'enriching the insurance company') you can buy an extended warranty but the insurers have far more data than any of us on the expected longevity and percentage failure rate and they are not in the business of paying out claims; they are in the business of collecting premiums. If you apply for life insurance after having 3 heart attacks in 2 years you will be denied; likewise, if a Toshiba Regza or any other brand/model has a very high premature failure rate you would not be able to buy an extended warranty on it at any price.

In Zumbo's absence, I'll point you towards the thread (http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37623) that he started when he bought it. It doesn't mention the specific model number, but it has some info. I'm sure that he'll give you the actual model number when he's on here again.
