A question for HTPC users

What are the proper settings for horizontal and vertical sync polarity?

I don't have an HTPC, but it looks like even my 1st gen. Radeon has this setting adjustable. My Samsung Flatscreen 17" looks OK with -ve Horizontal and +ve Vertical. Perhaps it depends on the display that is connected...
