im currantly on the hunt for 2 fbp200c's to replace the Sunfire amp...and now that Mits is shipping their DLP's the tv is getting replaced VERY SOON!!!!

yeah, i had a 400a service pulled into the house, and the audio system has its own seperate panel.

it cranks up pretty good...but the theater experience is insane!

the room is 95% thru getting a complete over haul....gutted to the studs and redone...not to mention ALOT of equipment upgrades

i dont have a total on what i have paid...but the insured value of the theater is $225,000. paid less than 1/2 of that id imagine.

I am not familiar with Martin Logans, but almost all speakers need some room around them for proper sound dispersion. Your speakers are placed right against the rear and side walls, don't you think it would be a good idea to move them out away from the corners?

Very nice rig. Most of the best sound i've heard has been through Martin Logan speakers. They love the juice though. Glad to see your running these with killer amps. You dont get much better than Krell.

In real theaters is this the case as well? I don't really know as I've never seen what goes on behind the theater screen. How much space exists behind the movie screen?

In the theaters I go to, the speakers are hanging on the walls. I peaked under the screen, there is usually a HUGE sub right under the screen.

What speakers are you referring to Furry. If its the surrounds I could see that. But not the main stage speakers. In a typical theatre set up there will be shelves built and sometimes they attach small baffles to the sides to get better seperation. But this will depend on the width of the screen. In a THX house there will be a wall built behind the screen for the main stage speakers and subs.

I wish somebody would do an article about the exact specs of a real theater. I've always wondered where the best seat is in a Loews or AMC theater.

The horns that sit above the bass bin are aimed to aproximately 2/3 the way back in the auditorium. This is genrally the best seat in the house.

Most larger auditoriums tend to be bi-amped. THX auditroiums require this. But I dont put much into THX certifification anymore. Its a bit of a joke these days. Back when it was first introduced it was revolutionary as there where no real standards in the cinema industry. Now there tends to be alot of corners cut. Not so much in the equipment but in the construction of the auditorium. The biggest complaint I have is in outside noise that seeps in. Which not be heard at all. Bass from other theatres, projector noise, A/C noise, lobby noise, and in one case here, feeeling a train go by just outside the theatre. All of the things I just mentioned are noticed in some of the new venues constructed around here. Very frustrating.

The ironic thing projection and sound is the area where theatre chains spend the least amount of money. It all depends on if the theatre was able to find someone who knows how to properly use the equipment. Granted there are exceptions at some locations. Alot of it depnds on the general manager and if they make presentation important. Most just like to collect a paycheck.
