I went to future shop today to check out the 6190 since my wife works there I get really good deals. but I ended up walking out with the 6180. I guess its the same as the V863 Im no expert but comparing the two there wasn't that much diffence from the two for the difference in price. I got the 6180 for 600 an the 6190 would of been a grand. does anyone have a 6180? Im hoping it works wonders with my playstation3. sorry for the long post.

Looking at the features, it's kind of hard to see how it is only 600. I think I might have found my new pre. I was going to get the UMC-1 but I found out a few things about the company that led me to believe otherwise. Anyone know if the 6180 is worth it? Can anyone tell how the scaler/upconversion is?

well my price was 600 since my wife works there. I think it retails for just under a grand. the biggest thing I save on is cables. A cable like 150.00 dollars I get for about 40 bucks. I'll never let her leave this job lol.

I've worked there too so I know all about your excitement. Don't get caught on cables though. Even with the discount, you get shafted by Monster or Rocketfish. Get some monoprice and/or blue jeans instead.

I got the 6190 for 1100$ while I was on probation there (after a month and a half). Very good receiver. Only rant is that it doesn't have the nice GUI the V3800 has and that you have simple bass management. I'd love different crossovers for fronts and rears.

What got me the 90 instead of the 80 is the looks first of all lol.

The 6190 was the one I wanted but the discount wasn't that good right now. so when he showed me the new 6180 an the good staff discount my wife talked me into it since I upgrade way to often. I pretty much have my own store in used gear lol. since you work at F.S. have you tested out the 6180 yet? Id like to hear your opion on it comparing it to the 6190.

sorry i don't work there anymore.

but if the 6180 fits your bill, then i'm happy for you. For myself, I just wanted to be over with the thing already. I'm tired to buy audio stuff and always have the upgrade bite. I bought the best receiver my money could get and I bought great speakers.

Bruin,
FYI, the cables you spent $40 on with the "discount" would cost $5-10 from Monoprice.com. The receiver sounds like a pretty good deal.

i work at future shop as well, you can get that receiver right through yamaha for $700 i was going to get it myself. Ask your wife to look in to it. if you can take the 6180 back the 6190 in my opinion is a better receiver.

just thought i'd let you know.
