Check out the tweeter on my S8. Nice! You can imagine what type of sound this thing is producing. This after I stressed to the movers not to harm my speakers. I’m glad I moved the amps myself!

Is there no recourse you can take? After all, they did damage your equipment.

I had to submit a claim for processing. I’ll hear back within 7 days. It just ticks me off. I had them repacked in the original factory crates and everything.

Any idea what happened that caused that, especially if they were packed back in the factory crates?

One of the boxes is pretty well mangled. The metal screen on the tweeter is VERY rigid, I’m sure it took a lot of force to crush it that badly. I’m surprised none of midrange drivers were damaged. Of course the beryllium tweeter is the most expensive driver to replace on the whole speaker.

LOL!! And here I was thinking i have all the bad luck.
I stand corrected.
Sorry dude, That really isnt a laughing matter. I was trying to think of a way to help you.
All i could some up with is to remove the grill and push the wire on the grill back out. Then i guess you might could try some vacuum to pull out the tweeter. Or maybe a ...........heck i dont know alot about tweeters, the dammage may already be done. Maybe some tape stuck to the center would pull it out.
Peace,
Tommy

They damaged it so badly the dome itself is crushed! I'm looking at 800 for a replacement. Not only that, they broke both my grills! I just had to submit a second claim, I was so hot about the tweeter I didn't notice the grills.

Get a gun, go to the pro movers store... I don't need to continue, you know where I am going with this.
This makes even me angry, and it's not even my gear. I would never let a "professional" mover touch my equipment. I would simply tell them I will move that myself, and they will do only what I ask them to, which wouldn't be for anything unless I needed their help moving something. It would make for an uncomfortable situation, and probably bore the mover being he/she isn't doing much, but they are getting paid, that's all that matters.

If they didn't weigh 100lbs each and I had a truck I would have moved them myself. I didn't want them to touch my speakers in the first place, but didn't have much choice. I won't make the same mistake again, next time I'm finding a friend with a truck.

Sounds like a much more secure plan.:)

Not to highjack your thread, but I had a similar situation in when I moved, it looks like the grills on my Mission tower speakers were mushed into the tweeters and they left faint "X" marks in the tweeter right in the center. (The grills are made of formed plastic in small X's which gives the grill rigidity.)
Does slightly marring or indenting the tweeter cause any damage that I should be concerned about? Obviously mine is not as bad as yours, I'm sorry for your loss friend.
That looks real bad. :(

Family members are no better.
You should see what my brother-in-law did to my cherry armoire when he dropped it. :(

Yeah, I remember reading his obituary after his 'strange and baffling accident' :D

If I attempt to replace the tweeter myself, do I need to do any soldering?

More than likely the leads are soldered to the back terminals on the tweeter. It's really quite easy to do, though.

Why are you not looking to get NEW speakers?
If they took that bad of a hit what else could be damaged?

Sorry to hear about your speakers.
I'm speechless.
I will make a note to myself NEVER to let anyone move ANYTHING in my HT room!!!
Terrible luck!!!
Sorry again.

Movers are better than friends or family members because they are insured.
You don't have to worry about ruining a friendship or estranging a relative when you go after a moving company for damaging things.
Sure, movers damage things. But they also pay for them.

If the mover's insurance pays for it, I will get the speaker replaced. I just bought them 3 months ago, so I'm not in the market for anything new.
Other than the TV, they don't touch my gear. I use my minivan to move my gear.

It has nothing to do with being in the market. But I would not settle for just replacing the tweeters. JMO

Make sure you get a matching set of the tweeters and labor to have them installed by an authorized dealer/repair center.

Sorry to hear about what happened to your tweeters.
The S8's are one heck of a nice pair of speakers. Now they are ruined. Man, can't imagine the kind of anger you must be feeling right now.
Hope the insurance claims come through.

Wow, must have been a bunch of apes moving your stuff if they did that with them packed in the crates. They definitely need to reimburse you in some way. They should have insurance for stuff like this.

I am heartbroken for you buddy... that is just atrocious......
I highly doubt you would need a matched set of tweeters... See HERE (http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/speakers/floorstanding/paradigm-s6-v2/paradigm-s6-build-quality-and-setup) for how audioholics took out the tweeter, its no big deal, I'll bet its just connected with spades.
Paradigm more then likely just grabs them out of a bin, and slaps them in.
Good luck on the reporting to get your money for the replacements, it might be some time, I would suggest just ordering the replacements and sending the bill, rather then waiting for them to approve anything... :)

Please take some pics of the new tweeters and removal process, I would love to see the differences from the .v1 to the .v2 tweeter assembly...

Just wondering how this may have happened. You said you put them back in there crates, is that the same as cardboard box's like mine all came in?? Usually thick cardboard box with up the guzuu thick styrofoam, they were made for shipping!! They can almost be droped off a building and survive, so maybe some SOB, took it out of the box because he was curious what it looked like? I remmember when I shipped back to the States and I had these beautiful pair of shields with real cross swords and the shields made it but the swords are now property of a prick!
