Hi everyone,

ok here is my issue. I have my toshiba HD-A3 hooked up through optical. It goes into my receiver (Optical in) and when i play any movie with DD it says on the front of the receiver 2CH. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Justin

If you have it set to bitstream and you choose a True HD or DTS HD track, you will get stereo only becuase the full formats cannot be passed via coaxial/optical.

Thanks, J_garcia

so would this be possible if i am watching a SD DVD movie as well? So what should I set it at? My receiver says its 5.1 but the DVD player says otherwise.

Did you check the setting and see what it is set to for digital audio? Is it set to bitstream or PCM? I answered incorrectly previously, if you choose a Lossless PCM track you will get stereo, but True HD and DTS HD should pass a 5.1 core if set to bitstream; this is how I run mine currently.

I am 90% sure he did not set it to bitstream and that's why he is getting 2 channel.

Almost... I know my A2 converts DD+/TrueHD to 1.5 Mbps DTS and passes the DTS core of DTS-HD. However, the A3 should be converting both to 640Kbps DD when set to bitstream. :o
