Netflixed the Blu ray version of Dragon Wars the other day, fun movie to watch if your in the mood for a MST3k interaction type experience. I found this quote from Rotten Tomatoes that summed it up better than I can,

When they decide to sic [those monsters] on downtown Los Angeles, the movie turns shockingly watchable. Until that sequence, there was no evidence that anybody involved with this laughable fantasy knew what he or she was doing.

There is a lot of good LFE stuff during the "war".

OK, have at it...

OH, heres another good quote,

This one's for connoisseurs of the "totally preposterous crap" school of fantasy cinema. You know who you are: You have all the Warlock sequels on Laserdisc [and] the complete Leprechaun series on DVD.

That movie was TERRIBLE!!!

I knew that it was bad because I read numerous reviews before watching it, so my expectations couldn't have been lower, but I still thought it sucked. The plot was soooo weird and convoluted and the acting was so terrible, that it was hard to try and just watch it for the CG dragons and the sound.

Unfortunately, the sound wasn't even that good. There were a couple of cool scenes, (like the one where the evil dragon was getting blasted by the helicopters on top of that round building), but not nearly enough to even make it worth the rental.

I would advise people not to bother.

Is it good for showing off your setup? Are the battle scenes worth to watch?

Is it good for showing off your setup? Are the battle scenes worth to watch? Not really. There are MANY other discs that have MUCH better sound.

I think this movie is a decent rental during a subpar new release week. It's not a movie that will be at the top of my queue during a strong week, but there is definitely a time and place for Dragon Wars if you enjoy this genre.

I accidentally ordered this when my Comcast remote locked up and then executed my last 2 commands. I thought that perhaps, from the trailer, the effects would be cool and perhaps not too bad.

It was absolutely awful....and I couldn't get past the William Forrester part without vomiting a little. I hit stop and immediately felt better.
