If anyone has seen this, how would you rate the film? How would you rate the DVD? Is it worth adding to my collection if I like films such as Lord Of The Rings, Eragon, etc?

I agree with Mike this movie sucked compared to LOTR and Eragon. Don't waste you time or money. Well you can rent it for a buck at red box, that may be worth a buck.

I have seen two different Beowolf movies in the last six months and I thought both were pretty good. They are at least worth a rental. The newest Beowolf had good CGI and battle scenes and it is worth watching for that.

I thought the CGI of the newest Beowulf was a little disturbing-in some scenes, it was so real that you could mistake it for reality...in most scenes, it just looked "off". I think they strayed a little too close to the uncanny valley in this one for my tastes. The movie itself wasn't too bad and the fight scenes were pretty good, but it was just a little creepy watching these digital actors on screen.

Wow. I can't believe that some of you actually thought Eragon was a good movie. As a fan of the book, I can't even begin to tell you how disappointed I was in that giant nut-filled turd.

I'd say Beowulf was a lot better than Eragon. Was it a great movie? No. But the fight scenes with Grendel and the Fire Dragon were WAY better than anything in Eragon.

Is it worth buying? Meh. I'd say only if you're buying the HD-DVD.

I have the Eragon BD and LOTR Trilogy on DVD.

I hated Beowulf. I thought I was watching Shrek or something.

What a total waste of money and actors!

I will go even further and say that I think the director of Beowulf should be banned!

I hated every minute of this movie. My wife was the ONLY reason I went to see this movie!

Wow, you guys really hate this move. I liked it. I would not waste my money on the standard version. Hd only. The sound of this movies is awsome. The Movie looks gorgeous! I really like it. It had a good amount of testosterone in it. IF you like 300 you will like this. on the hd dvd there was more gore than the theatrical version.

I also got to experience the 3D version. Now that was really amazing!

Wow did this movie suck. Ok there were some action scenes that were mildly entertaining, but having to sit through the rest of it was awful. I think I would rather jab a fork into one of my eyes than watch this movie again.

I really like 300, but I didn't like Beowulf hardly at all. Am I going to explode spontaneously or something now?

I rented this moive over the weekend. I liked the story line despite figuring out early in the movie. It had awesome use of the surround channels. My room was filled with sound and deep bass. Thats the good part.

The ugly and I mean real UGLY part was that itwas all animated. I should have watched the traillors a little more carefully. :( This single thing ruined what would have been a good movie.

Watched it last night and also thought it would've been a good movie if done real world.

What are the odds of CGI actors only in the future?

I have seen a lot worse movies than Beowulf. Its ok on the scale of totally crappy to excellent. Its worth a rental if you like the sci-fi genre.

what kind of normal male would want to watch a naked CGI of angelina jolie rather than the real thing. ;)

I actually didn't care for 300 that much. However, I enjoyed Beowulf. Transformers was a steaming pile. However, the worst movie I can recall seeing in the last 5 years was Jumper. (I skipped The Hulk and the last AVP movie.)

Anyway, I liked Beowulf. I prefer live action to CGI. However, it was quite interesting. It looks good on HD DVD (or Blu-Ray import) as well.

i guess that's why taste is all subjective.

i liked: 300, jumper, transformers
hated: beowulf, hulk
so-so: eragon, AVP

I think Beowulf is better than the comic book movies (except the Spidermans) but I guess thats not saying much.

I saw Beowolf in 3D at an IMAX..... Animated or not, I developed an appreciation for Angelina that you just cant get from 2D.
Seriously the fight scenes with all the over-the-top flips and such was cool in 3D.
I think it was more like an amusement park thing than a movie.IMHO.

I just recently saw Beowulf in SD, and was somewhat disappointed. While the fight scenes were enjoyable and the deeeeeep bass further damaged my sub's voice coil, everything else about the movie just wasn't entertaining. All the melodrama that comes from this type of movie nearly put me to sleep. (Angelina's scenes woke me right up, though. :D)

My roommate, on the other hand, found it thrilling and fun, so who can say? Worth a rental, at the least.

cheers,
