<font color='#000000'>SiliconValley.com reported recently the final demise of Betamax (http://www.siliconvalley.com/mld/siliconvalley/3948459.htm). As many of you know the story, this is the one that got away for Sony Corp, and resulted in a couple of decades of sub-standard tape-based recording systems.
I for one, believe that if Sony had continued development, we would all be recording our favorite shows onto DigiBeta today instead of paying $35k (http://broadcaststore.com/cart/details.cfm?CFID=30311&CFTOKEN=72750588&eq_id=203510&brand_name=SONY&model_full_model_name=DVW%2DA500&keyword=203510&price_search=&brand_search=&model_search=&class_search=&category_search=&startrow=1) for one for use as a production tool.</font>
