View Full Version : Orb Audio or Elemental Designs??? or Both?

I'm brand new to the forums, but have been an audiophile for awhile.
Time to upgrade my home theater...my old sony receiver and kenwood towers from 10+ years ago.

Specs:
I have a 65" DLP mitsu with a PS3.
I just bought (but not opened) a Yamaha 661 receiver.

Space: rectangle
21' width with tv in middle
13' depth
8' ceiling

My best friend has a small living room in similar setup to mine with the "people's choice" Orb Audio. I think it sounds fantastic and would have bought the same setup without hesitation....except for that we are also fans of Elemental Designs. (from car audio subwoofers). After checking around there seems to be a lot of very happy people with awesome home theater subs.

I like to watch movies somewhat loud with lots of bass. I listen to all kinds of music, with a lot of Reggae and hip-hop. I favor natural sounding setups vs high pitch "harsh" sounding setups.

I think the orb audio satellites with a eD sub could be a great combination that fits in my $1200 'ish budget.

Anybody have either setup that would like to comment?

eD also has some affordable full range speakers for sale. did you check those out?

i'm not familiar with Orb Audio though.

I have checked them out, although they're still so new there's not that many reviews. Lots of orders lately, and back-orders but no long-term tests or pro reviews.

I've had them for a while, I too have a smallish HT and these sound great, 5.1 with sub, speaker brackets and taxes $1200.00

There are bunch of people over at the AVS forums that have the eD speakers. You might want to try there for some opinions.

80+ but Orb recommends setting the crossover to 120.
