I've got to get the TV situation down in the next couple of weeks. I was set on the Samsung either the Lamp or LED 61" but the 6176S has a lot of issues with screen bowing that I've confirmed on several sets I've looked at. The LED 6787S has yet to have a decent review. It seems that the picture, while great in the sweet spot, is not very bright, and degrades rapidly as you move off center.

So here's where I am:
Samsung: coming out with new sets in April and May. Do I wait? I don't know if they've addressed the defective screen issues or not since they have yet to even acknowledge the problem. Even the guy at BB said he's seen a ton of returns on the 6167.
Mitsubishi Diamond: The 65833 looks to be an amazing TV. It looks great and the picture seems great as well. No bowing that I can tell and the forums seems to be pretty positive.
Toshiba: The 65HM167 looks to be a great TV as well and is a couple hundred dollars cheaper than the Mits.
So... I"m trying to find the inside story. All the talk surrounds Samsung, but both Mitsubishi and Toshiba seem to have fine DLPs. Are there specific reasons that these to don't garner the attention? Are there issues or are they jsut not as good as the Samsungs? Could really use some solid advice here. Right now I'm kinda leaning towards Toshiba. I just kind find a lot of good reason though to pick one over the other. Thanx in advance.

I love my Mits and have no issues with it what so ever. I also have a plasma and LCD and the DLP holds its own in terms of PQ to either one.

Just came across one issue with the Toshiba... it's amost 22" deep. That's a bit much I think considering the Mits is about 15" and the Samsungs about 13". I'm leaning more and more to the Mits. When you guys bring up the guide, do you notice any curling near the edges of the screen?

i love the diamond, however i am concerned about the bulb life.
samsung has the new LED technol where you willl never have to change the bulb, however i have seen problems w/ the samsung as well, hence catch 22.

My father has the Mitsubishi WD-57732, and it's an excellent tv in my opinion. It's considered to have one of the best ATSC tuners installed on a TV (if not a separate tuner) and our bulb is still going after a year of service.
I would have no hesitation getting the newest Diamond series if I had the cash. ;)

2 of the three, i was refering to the mitsu with the ditto
I have about a two or three year old Samsung 61" DLP and it has very good wide angle off axis viewing and a very good picture quality (for a 720p set). I haven't had any failures but I find myself turing up the picture brightness a little about every six months. Could be the bulb but it could be my eyesight too. I also have a Samsung Upconverting DVD player which has a great picture and no problems. When I was looking for a set, Samsung was about the only one with DLP, or at least the most prominent. I would guess they are the leader in selling DLP sets, but that is just a guess.

From everything I can tell, it's only the new series Samsung's that have issues.. which I think come with the new slim design. I've personally seen about a dozen new Samsungs between about 5 different bbs and cc's and every last one has unacceptable bowing problems.
I've gone through analysis paralysis about this and the 65833 Diamond Mits is the one I'm going with. I've only seen one out about 7 that has some very slight bowing in the upper portion of the screen, but I had to really stare at the lines on the onscreen guide to detect it.
