My wife and I are looking at replacing our Panasonic 47" rptv and getting a plasma. The 2 models we are looking at are the Samsung HP-T5064 and the Panasonic TH-50PX77U. I found a place that sells both so I will be able to compare the picture quality. What I was wondering was if anyone has any experience with either of these sets? Does one brand have more problems/issues then the other? We use it mostly for tv and movies, very little gaming(less then 1 hour/month).

Panny, I have one too.

Remember unless they are using the same source and the two sets are calibrated perfectly and alike, then the instore test means nothing.

Panny 4 years old going into 5 not one hiccup. Can't go wrong, PQ is best when factoring in price, to get better you'll pay much more. Greg is 100% correct.

Just to confuse the choice I will say that both the family room Samsung DLP and the son's Samsung LCD have been trouble free for 3 and 2 years respectively. Both are good brands and Plasmas have good repair records in general.

I've been leaning towards the panny because we are happy with our current one, but a 47" rptv takes up a lot of floor space.
On another note, does anyone use Monoprices tv mounts? I have their speakerwire and interconnects and am quite happy with them but can their mounts stand up to other brands like Peerless and Sanus? Here is the mount I'm considering.
