i dont think you can use tech specs to describe a sound and a preference. However, I can say that if you must go with these tiny speakers, you defintely want to go with the US1, as they have larger "woofers." But I recommend going with even larger woofers....these small speakers will take all the mid-bass away demolishing full sound. Sure, mini speakers for the highs, and sub for the lows....but where is the middle.

anyway, between the two, i would prefer the US1 also cuz of the cone material. Minuette speakers have paper

I would HIGHLY recommend the Axiom Audio M22ti (http://www.audioholics.com/productreviews/loudspeakers/faceoff3_g.php) speakers ($400/pair)

Later, you can add a center channel and additional speakers, but at least you'd have a decent set of mains to begin with and build from.

I think Axiom speakers are wonderful. I've had M3tis, M22tis, and M50tis. I ended up with a bunch of Michauras (made by Axiom I think) which I also like. For $400, I'd get a pair of M3s ($275) and put the balance in my subwoofer fund.

G'luck.
