Great forums - I have learned a lot - so here is my first post.

I am slowly migrating from an entry-level cambridge soundworks bookshelf(model 17)/sub(basscube 8) system to an entry-level 5.1 system in a 16x16 room. 50/50 music/movies.

The bookshelfs/sub are currently the fronts/sub, and I just installed a barely used mythos eight as my center (loving it). Next step is to get some rear surrounds, and then eventually replace the fronts/sub.

My budget for the rears plus fronts is about $600. For the rears, I am torn between some new PM1000's (for about 300) or some used BP1.2X's (for about 200). The PM1000's will match the mythos drivers better, but I might want to save the cash for the fronts.

For the fronts, I'm thinking either some new SM350/450's (for about 300-400) or some used BP6's (for about 200-250).

Any advice or other options? Thanks!

Get the BP6s! Although the overall F.R. of the BP6s are 25 Hz - 20 kHz, the +/-3dB is around 35 Hz - 20 kHz +/-3dB.

The SM450 is 47 Hz- 20 kHz +/-3dB and the SM350 is 57 Hz - 20 kHz +/-3dB.

And get the used BP1.2X's because they look better!:D

Surround speakers are just for ambience. Since you will be setting them to SMALL anyway, save the money and get the better looking ones. I think the BP1.2Xs look much better with the BP6s!

Yes, get the BP6s!

I have the 1.2x and they are fantastic. Def Tech speakers are voice matched across all their speakers, so you won't have to worry about them not being timbre matched, so I would go with the BP1.2.

Thanks folks - I think I'll move forward with the BP2.1X and BP6 plans. I can't wait to hear it all together!

I think it will be the best system you will ever hear for that kind of price!
