Led Zeppelin have played their first concert in 19 years, before nearly 20,000 fans at London's 02 arena.

Original band members Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones were joined on stage by Jason Bonham, the son of their late drummer John Bonham.

Our local radio station was broadcasting from the Hard Rock near by and from all early morning reports the concert exceeded expectations that Page/Plant appeared very content and with all the effort put into this show that a tour may ensue(finger crossed;)).

I thought that they agreed when Bonham died that that was the end of the band, and that they would not play under that name any more.

I saw Page and Plant play whenever walking into whatever the town is came out, and they primarily played Led Zeppelin songs. It was great, and I had no problems. I think it's great that they're playing together now with Bonham's son. But question the use of the name.

Now for the $64,000.00 question? Will there really be a tour?

I was hearing on the local rock station (the Paul and Young Ron Show) that Jimmy had dissed Phill Collins and the deceased Tony Thompson as drummers, he said that Collins was "horrible" and couldn't hold a Zep tune same for Thompson, he was referring to the alleged reunion back in the 80's. He said Collins and Thompson tried out but failed miserably and the only drummer who came close to imitating John Bonham was Jason Bonham. That made me feel a little angry at Page.

I heard it awhile back and didn't dare mention it here:eek:. It might of caught the ire of Gene:p. I know one thing for sure Toronto has a HUGE LZ following and why can't there be any truth to that remark. I remember a show(live aid) and Phil took the stage and thought he was one of the boys, is what JP was referring to ;).

*Here's the quote:
Live Aid was pretty shambolic," he told BBC News. "We came together and rehearsed with a drummer we'd never met before and then we were joined by Phil Collins, who we'd never played with before, on this great Live Aid stage."

He added: "We went there with the spirit of it, but actually it was pretty shambolic."

Maybe it wasn't Phil Collins ability to play the drums. Maybe it was he didn't have the attitude to play with Led Zeppelin.

No reason to. Page is right. The one time Collins played with them (Live Aid 1985), he wasawful. Then again, he hadn't really rehearsed with them, didn't seem to know the tunes, and he was doing a 'stunt' Concord flight to play on both sides of the Atlantic, probably not the best thing for stamina. He'd probably agree he sucked at that show.

Rumour, so don't count it as the gospel truth, I heard the tickets were going to start at about $130.00, if that's true what will the better seats run?

I remember when Steely Dan said they were going to tour, I actually lost sleep over that one and when I got to see them for the first time in the Miami Arena it was surreal.

Ah, it may or may not be the same, but I can certainly surmise that it will kick a$$, if it does happen. At least there IS still A Bonham on the drums. :D
