I'm looking for a center speaker to match my Athena as-b2 which I use for fronts. I narrowed it down to the NEW Athena Ls-100 and the Energy C-C100 centers which seem to be using the same speakers between the brands, but the enclosures are different (makes a big difference?). My Audition series tweets are 1" made of teteron and the woofers are dual 5-1/2 Injection Molded Polypropylene , but the newer models are 1" Aluminum tweets with dual 5-1/2" Composite Fiberglas woofers....this not a good match? Sales at Futureshop are on right now for a few days so Id be nice if I can get on a deal.

Too early in the morning. Everybody's sleeping.;)

FWIW, I would choose the C-series over the Athena. It's good to get the best center channel you can and I don't think there will be much, if any, timbre mismatch. The beauty of FS is that you can return it in 30 days if you're not happy, so it's worth it to give it a try in your own home.

I would second this motion and get the Energy C100;).
In terms of construction quality Energy will be better than the Athena. Some may perceive aluminum tweeter to be bright or harsh and even though your speakers use soft domes(ie:teteron/silk) tweeters they to have been characterized as bright by some. If you can have a listen and return the WS centre and pick up either one, you'll be better off:).

Goodluck, Billy p:)

I'm heading off to FS now since I was told there was a few C100 left. I was a bit worried about the tweets being a bit bright from what I read.. thats why I asked, but its still worth a try. WS is going back thank God for FS exchange policy. Thank you guys for the responses

Why don't you get the Athena AS-C1.2? It was designed to be the matching center for the AS-B2.2, and Audio Advisor has them for $99.

AA is a good option, but not for us Canucks. In Canada FS was our only option for Athena speakers and now they only sell the LS line. Just like in the States the Audition line has been phased out by API and I believe(guessing:o)their parent company Klipsch is reducing production & overhead with the Athena brand and slowly replacing them with Energy C series speakers.:)

Is Buddhaman from Canada??? I don't see that anywhere in his profile.

Agree with Joe Schmoe...http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=ATASC1%2E2

If in Canada check what are the shipping options, would you have to pay duties from the USA? Don't know, but under NAFTA I don't think so.

He's shopping at Future Shop, eh. It's a dead giveaway that he's a hoser. His TV is probably set up on a stack of two-fours, eh.

The Tweeter in the C-Series is tame. I found it much more tame compared to my Connoisseur's tweeter.

Like I said in my first post, Audition them.

If I wasn't busy guiding my sled dog team back to my igloo for some canadian bacon and molson canadian beers to watch some real football with three downs and a 110yard field, I would take offense to that statement.

eh!

:D

Cheers

EDIT: Oh and I forgot, leave Red Green out of this :)
