In-wall speakers are becoming more popular these days with aesthetics playing a major role in dictating the theater system components. This article explores some basic fundamentals for choosing in-wall type speaker products along with divulging some useful installation tips in efforts to realize their maximum performance and yield the best possible experience to the end users. If you’re goal is to achieve the level of fidelity previously only reserved for the finest box type speaker systems in an unobtrusive in-wall solution this article is a must read. The goal for any good home theater system is to be so connected with the experience that the equipment literally disappears. There is no reason why this goal cannot be achieved with a properly executed in-wall system.

Are there sonic problems associated with in-wall speakers and how the sound reflects off the wall aligned with the front baffle? You wouldn't need a BSC circuit in your crossover;)

What about building a sealed speaker box and putting it into the wall? Any difference compared to mounting it on a stand 18" in front of the wall?

I ask because my bonus room has roughly 6 feet of attic space behind the walls. I may flush mount speakers and subwoofer(s) in the future if the sound will not suffer from doing so.

I realize ported speakers in a flush mounted configuration could only work if they were front ported.

This company Tri Star Home Theater and Chuck Woods buys customer returns and salvage products from salvage companies and installs these to unsuspecting clients' homes and may be representing them as new or closeouts units.
I’d avoid this guy/firm if I were you. I have just found out(from a guy) that this company sells reused items as possibly new ones ! And if you have the luck of getting an item which has been used for some several years now… imagine what “quality” you’ll get.

The guy told me that Tri Star Home Theaters and Chuck Woods is a dishonest company and individual trying to buy as is products, imperfect customer returns products and reselling to his unsuspecting home theater clients . He is engaged in the business of installing home theater equipment as you may know, but instead of using new units, he would go out and source used, and potentially damaged units to install for his client’s. He may or may not be disclosing this fact to you but anyway now people started to find out about this.

He placed an as is order for an “untested customer returns” 50” Plasma TV from a firm I don’t want to disclosure. Then he went to the firm’s warehouse to pickup, then insisted on performing a bench test on this unit to make sure it’s functional. They told him that "guaranteed working" units will cost 20% higher and it came with a warranty. The buyer then became upset and decides to write a bad review about the company (even when they refunded his money). So I just wanted to warn you out about this guy and his firm. As far as I know he works around Newport Beach, CA.

If you have are thinking of doing business with this company or individual, you may want to be careful when doing business with this Tri Start Home Theaters. And as a client you may want to double check the equipment you receive from him. Most people looking for new equipment for home installations, would never buy from a firm that actively sources “returns” and used electronics units possibly to significantly cut his equipment costs at his client’s expense. Buyer Beware with this company!
