Why computer better than DVD Player?

Hello,

I have a projector with RGB inputs and I have tried two DVD players from Sony and Samsung using component outputs with RGB ends and for some reason my computer with a VGA to my projector still looks better.

Is it because of the cabling or some other fluke?

How can my computer that doesn't have 3:2 or Progressive/Interlaced and all those functions on a good DVD player be better?

Also do you think if I get a DVD player with a SCART output I will match my computers quality?

I can understand your preference to VGA connection over RGB. If I recall right, someone told me that VGA signals are in the digital domain, while RGB, component, progressive scan, composite, SCART and S-video signals are all analog. I think VGA would be about the same as a DVI connection. Most of my colleagues also prefer VGA equipped players connected directly to a plasma monitor or industrial grade projector via VGA terminals. So in your case, the computer graphics card with VGA out is certainly superior to most DVD players with analog only output.
