I heard reports about PS3 coming out with 80GB HDD, which is not backcompatible with PS2 games:confused:. To me this is bad move on sony part and I can't get a good feeling which console to purchase?:confused:

Is the PS3 blueray better than a stand alone blueray player?? Do you lose any quality and features?? I just want the console money can buy, leaning towards the PS3 system and down the road pick up an inexpensive X-box 360 (Halo 3) game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any help in this matter would help me in my decision making process...

The PS3 with 80GB HDD's are backwards compatible, but instead of having the hardware internally they have software that emulates the PS2 environment. All reports seem to say it works just as well as having the internal hardware as previous versions of the PS3 have.

As far as Blu-ray capabilities you will have equal functionality with a PS3 as you would with a stand alone and it actually is an excellent BD player.

I am very happy with my PS3 as both a video game machine, BD player and as a multimedia machine as I have a HD with all digital copies of my music hooked up to it.

Perhaps when 360s are cheaper I will pick one up, but that is doubtful.

If you want to play games, watch movies, listen to music, then get a 360.

A little bit of sweeping generalizations there. The 360 has a larger game library yes. Perhaps because it has been out twice as long? Also, the 360 is not known for its quality video playback as far as DVDs are concerned. I admittedly don't know too much about the HD DVD attachment for it.

Just because the PS3 isn't selling like the Wii doesn't mean it is a failure. In fact it is selling better than the 360 was at similar points in release which is broke the Gamecubes record for worst console sales in recent history.

There are good games out for the PS3 just not as many as there are for the 360 and that is due to one thing: time.

You can mention the Wii, but people are buying that in hopes of good games as there are a few, but no more than in the PS3 library.

The HD-DVD attachment for the 360 is great, it looks every bit as good as Blu-ray on the PS3...as long as your 360 doesn't DIE ON YOU. After 2 years on the market, the quality of the 360 has not improved one bit and that is really the main reason why I never bought one.

My 2 PS2s were quite problem free and my PS3 seems to be doing fine so far and I use it a lot. It is true there aren't a lot of games, but there certainly aren't too few either; there are more than enough to choose from right now, though specific series may not yet be available. If you have a PS2 catalog, 72% of all PS2 games (which means thousands) are compatible with the 80G PS3.

Let's see, music server, wireless networking and streaming, Blu-ray, high quality DVD upscaling, FREE online service, HDMI 1.3, SACD, built in card reader, user replaceable HDD...to name a few features. I'd say you are getting more for your money with the PS3 even though it costs more.

Here's one HUGE drawback for the PS 3: Make sure your TV outputs 720p. Mine only does 480 and 1080. But about 80% of PS 3 games are in 720p. So most PS 3 games get downscaled to 480p for me. Totally lame.

Name one good PS3 game, seriously, try.
I liked Marvel Ultimate Alliance, The Darkness and Rainbow 6 Vegas. But I agree that Sony has seriously dropped the ball in regards to games. Halo 3 just came out and is breaking records and Sony has yet to put out the "it" game for the PS 3. Metal Gear, Gran Turismo and Devil May Cry 4 should all be awesome. But they don't come out til next year.

Oblivion. Darkness. Motorstorm. Skate. Virtua Fighter 5. Resistance. Dirt. Any questions? Thanks, I'll be here all week...

Sony isn't dropping the ball, the developers are. There are a LOT of games scheduled for release, but too many of them have been delayed due to them having to basically learn how to code for the PS3.

Your fanboyism is really out of place here. Objectionistic viewpoints have prevailed for the most part. I read such blatant 360-love type statements all day at the 360 forums.

Before you purchase either, and I am only a 360 owner (for now), be very wary of the inherent design flaws in the 360 that are causing machine after machine to fail. They are unable to repair them in a way where they stay working, thus you can only conclude they are unable to fix the issue.

I am of the opinion that until the 360 machine undergoes a complete redisign, the current 360 in all its forms is inherently flawed and will die eventually on every single person who owns one.

I enjoy my 360 alot. Problem is I am unable to play it because it died on me on 9-7-07 and I probably won't get a working unit returned to me until mid-October, if I am lucky.

PS3 games will get better. I don't think anyone can argue against that. But I am now of the opinion that I would rather own a working system that has a small yet growing list of good games than a flawed system you can not rely on one bit that has a better library of games at the moment.

You want some good reading? Head over to the xbox forums and read on the specific threads talking about people's machines dieing right before the Halo 3 launch. Just that small window of time of machine deaths has generated hundreds of frustrated people who have had to suffer what I suffer.

Oblivion, nothing new, enemies leveled with you?

Motorstorm is just luaghably shallow

Skate, stupid camera angle, ruins the game.

Virtua Fighter 5, can beat the entire arcade mode with any character by using a crouch kick, try it.

Resistance, shallow.

Dirt, guess it's ok, not a fan of sims.

This forum is substantially biased towards the PS3,and I chuckle at that.

You guys can tell me how the 360 fails all the time, or how the wii doesn't keep up with the others visual wise, but that won't stop the PS3 from being five hundred and ninety nine U.S. dollars, and it won't bring good games to the console.

BTW, call me a fanboi all you want, because I don't own any current gen consoles.

Not my kind of game either, but it was awarded as one of the best of 06.

Motorstorm is just luaghably shallow
You haven't actually played it for any length of time then...

Skate, stupid camera angle, ruins the game.
Again, I don't get the feeling you have any idea what you are talking about based on this "impression". This game is simple and very fun.

Virtua Fighter 5, can beat the entire arcade mode with any character by using a crouch kick, try it.
Yeah, try it. Sorry, it doesn't work...simple moves can get you shockingly far, but the last two levels require you to actually know how to play. I don't play arcade mode.... It is still the deepest, most complex fighting game so far, on any console (not necessarily the best fighting game, it has its quirks). Graphics could be better too.

Resistance, shallow.
Single player was too easy, but it is a good game with a good story.

Dirt, guess it's ok, not a fan of sims.
I don't like sims either, but this one is fun.

You get what you pay for. Sales are slow, but it also costs more....so the fact that it sells fairly well still means people are willing to pay more for a quality product. 360 + HD-DVD add on is pretty close to the same price as a PS3......

Pimp My Ride. Sounds like a great game. I'm sure it shows off all that the 360 is capable of

Could you please explain to me how you think Resistance is shallow? Also how would you know it to be shallow if you "don't own any current gen consoles."?

That's all I have to say.

Wow. You've convinced me now. You are just an "Anti-PS3 activist". you can't be reasoned with, you argue in opinion and refuse others as unimportant.

Why even bother? Don't you belong trolling in the PS3 forums or something?
