Mitsubishi 55inch Diamond HDTV - Can u turn off the tv but still use its speakers?

So i'm saving up for an amplifier, but until then I have a really nice tv, the mistu 55inch diamond series HDTV crt rear projector tv. Its super nice, and has tons of audio and video inputs, however I can't figure out if its possible to disable the tv when switching to a device which only outputs audio. For instance say I was playing music on a cd player and I didn't want to burn the tubes i.e. leave them on, anyone know if this is possible?

To the best of my knowledge you can't do something like that, because the speakers are powered through the TV.
