Tascam M-06 VU meters don't work.

I have a Tascam M-06 with a problem that the VU meters dont work, everything else works fine. Does anyone have any suggestions please? (I don't have a circuit diagram or any service info on it)

Thanks for your most helpful reply, I really didn't think of that option. Far better than thinking someone may have had a circuit diagram I could perhaps have had a look at. Silly old me - thanks again for you fast response.
