I've been mulling over specs and styles for what seems like an eternity.
My challenge is to get all speakers with a budget of as close to 2k i can get.
Axioms have caught my interest and seem to be a little better than the av123 x series.
I have 2 configurations so far:
1)
m22 bookshelf mains
ep500 sub
qs4 surround
vp150 center
I can save 100 dollars by going with the HSU VTF-3 HO over the ep500
2)
m50's instead of the m22's to get the tower look over a bookshelf on a stand, only bad thing is that i've heard several bad reviews of the 50's in the midrange department.
Both these configurations put me in the 2000-2400 price bracket. If anyone can offer my any advice on comparable speakers that would do a better job or any insight into the strengths/weaknesses of the speakers i'm planning on buying i'd greatly appreciate it.
The room will be 20x14x8 and the gear will be powered by an onkyo 805.
Thanks
Shawn

axiom has a trial period, question is, can you suck up the shipping costs to find out for yourself?
since you're gonna need a sub whatever speakers you pick, I suggest you pick and buy your sub. order both the M22 and M50 and compare them in your own home. send the one you don't like back.
on a side note:
have you tried auditioning other brands that you can demo without spending money for shipping? (gas not) try to check out other speaker B&M brands like: Monitor Audio, B&W, Martin Logan, etc.

If you get the M22s you might give some thought to using another M22 as a center instead of the VP150. That would save some money and many people prefer matched speakers across the front if they can fit them.
If you haven’t already checked you can order from Axiom’s factory outlet for a 10% discount. I got mine from their outlet and could find nothing wrong with them.

Also check out the Onix Rocket special on AV123. They are running a special on a 5.0 speaker package for about $2157 shipped with 760 floorstanders. The system with Rockt 450 mains is $1677 shipped. You could add the HSU sub to complete the system or wait for the MFW-15 from av123.

Not a bad idea, i guess i'm just lazy in the sense that i would much rather buy 1 speaker package, hook it up and be done. my WAF (i'm assuming from the context that it means Wife Aggrivation Factor) would most likely get me tossed out on the street if i had several systems worth of speakers lying around :D

WAF (i'm assuming from the context that it means Wife Aggrivation Factor)I believe it stands for "Wife Approval Factor"

Depends on how you look at it. Might be a good thing to aggravate her every once and a while :p. But generally the A does stand for approval.

Ahhhhh-- well that makes sense, My brain is only able to decipher so many acronyms per day :)
I did decide that i have to jump into the game and get started so i ordered a complete axiom system yesterday..
m22 mains
vp150 center
Qs4 surrounds
ep500 sub
I'm also ordering an onkyo sxtr805 to replace my old trusty kenwood.
I spent 15 years as a mobile and club DJ so my ears are a little damaged, I'm sure everything will sound great, if not then the av123 rockets will be my next try.
Thanks for all the advice, you guys are a pretty helpful bunch

Rockets would be another good choice. I'd also throw out the Ascend Acoustics setups, which I do feel are better than the Axioms. www.ascendacoustics.com
