I am trying to calculate how much speaker wire I will need for my new house HT room. What is the process? Do I measure the length and then add 25% to it for extra room and "bends" or what? More %/Less %?

I know there is a "standard".

Thanks

Just pick yourself up a couple of large spools. I went through about 5 or 6 for my house.

Well, more or less. Do you know if the rout you measure is where you can in fact pull the wires? Or, perhaps an unforeseen obstacle? Better to have more than ending up with a soldered joint in the wall.

When running wires through channels to my wall mounted surrounds, I first measured along the route my wires were going to take, trying to be as accurate as possible and then added 3 feet to the number. When running out the cables, I started from the speaker end with 1 foot dangling out of the channel, working my way towards the equipment rack. Worked out fine with plenty of spare to make neat stress free connections.
