Polk RM20 or Mirage Nanosat

Need help... I can't decide b/w the Polk RM20 and the Mirage Nanosat. The Mirage gives great sound and feel of music all around but is missing a depth in the vocals. The Polk RM20 give the nice kick and punch which also sounds great. But I can't decide b/w the two. Has anyone compared these side by side or the Mirage with any other Bass Reflex speakers. :confused:

My folks have the Mirage nanosat system, with the 8" sub, powered by a Denon receiver, and it sounds pretty good, but I haven't compared it with the Polk system. I think either system would suit you just fine.

You might want to look into the older Mirage OMNI. Crutchfield was having some deals on them. Considering what you said in your post, they might make a good compromise.

The newer Mirage Omni bookshelves are pretty big. They are 2x the size of the nanosats and are front ported so they have a better bass response than the nanosats. I currently use a pair for my rears and have the Omni 550 tower for the fronts. They have 5.5in drivers which are also on the Omni 350 towers. You can get the Omni 150 on sale right now at Vann's for half off at $140/pair. If you pair them with a sub for movies you won't have any problems in the bass department.

I also use omnisat v2 satellites for my fronts (along with sub) and enjoy them tremendously. hard to compare with Polk, totally different design theory. Also look at this deal;

The omnisats are 1 step up from nanoset and the subwoofer is also excellent and a good reciever thrown in. The only thing is it is the first version of the omnisat rather than version 2.

The 150, 350, 550 was exactly what I have in mind. Definitely worth a look.

I found the Mirage series to be open and airy, midrange was 50/50 but overall lacking in bass response. I'd forget the Nanosat and go Omnisat as a start point.

The Polk RM series has great bass response but is much more localized and directional on the sweet spot. The vocals carry a little weight from the power port and the high end is fair.

We're talking small speakers here, so I'm commenting accordingly.

Looked at the deal at tsto.com with OMni micro and Looks good. These Micro Omnisat are still bigger in size than the Nanosats. Do you think these will give me he missing bass / mids sounds I've been missing from the Nanosats? Thanks.

Thanks. I'm now considering the Omnisat Micro... The Omnisat V2 will run me about $1800. And I've looked at the Omnisat 150 but they are bookshelves.. too big for the decor.. Pls let me know if you all have more thoughts..

Since you are looking at satellites you won't be getting much in the bass department no matter what brands you look at. So you have to either add a sub or step up to bookshelves.

Very true. Even the larger Omnisat or Omnisat V2 have trouble generating real bass below about 120 or so. But you can make it work with a sub, though not ideal.

I have the omnisat v2. the bass goes down to 70hz so a sub is needed but it goes low enough where the sub and satellites mesh well.
