I bought a HTiB, yamaha yht 270, a while ago and wanted to upgrade the center speaker. The thing is I've only got about 5 inches of height under my tv to put the speaker. I was wondering if I could get some suggestions for centers that would be sound matched to the yamaha fronts while being a big enough upgrade.

You won't really get much of an upgrade from a center that is only five inches tall. IMHO, a center should have at least two 5 1/4 inch drivers and that would be too big. Can you put it on the top of the TV?

If you want a speaker upgrade, consider upgrading the front 3 channels.

I'm not sure where I'd put the center if not underneath the tv, the top of the tv is not flat. Would mounting a the center on the wall behind the tv be a good alternative positioning wise?

As for the fronts, well, my main beef is with the center because I've noticed that it really misses the highs during music. I'm okay with the fronts performance, could be because voices don't go through them. I also don't want to spend a whole lot at the moment, around $200.
