I just purchased a Toshiba A20 HD DVD player. It is connected to a Yamaha RX-V2500 receiver via a toslink cable. My question is what should my audio settings be in the player to receive the best performance, Bitstream or PCM? The receiver can decode Dobly Digital, DTS, etc... It is connected this way because there is no HDMI on the receiver. As always, any help is appreciated.

If you set it to bitstream, DD/DTS will be sent untouched to the receiver and the receiver will do the decoding. If you set it to PCM, the player will decode the multi-channel bitstream to 2 channel PCM and send that to the receiver.

You want the bitstream setting.
