Pick up a Blu-ray or HD-DVD player (or a combo player). Pretty much no reason to go with a standard DVD player at this point. I will be honest, the new Sony BD player is $500 and it will have a better picture than either of those players. Plus you get the 5 free discs deal right now...

Thanks sow you think i'am better of geting a sony blue ray for video and kiping my s9000es for audio.
Would the bd be better than the oppo. Thanks

I have a Playstation 3 and an Oppo 981HD and I would say the two upconvert pretty much equally. The biggest reason to have an Oppo and the BD player is to ability to play the DVD-A format. I think a Blu-ray player would be the way to go :).

Well, since he has a Sony now, he is missing out on DVD-A already... I do think the 9000ES should be fine to keep for audio. For video, no upconverting player that I've seen can match the level of BD or HD-DVD.

The current Sony players are 2nd generation and have HDMI 1.3, which the current Samsung does not. The 2nd gen for Samsung is coming out later this year, so I would say Sony is a better bet right now.
