This helps me move toward a decision the first Fifth Element Blu-ray was crap.

It was! I was going to buy it until I saw the quality and it just wasn't worthy of money but then I heard that Sony was replacing all the old versions with the new remasterd version for free (you just had to call and send in the old one) so I went on ebay and picked up the old version for 10 bucks and I should be getting my remastered copy soon enough!

I don't have the Blu-ray, I wish I had Blu-ray player. I saw the movie being played in a hi-fi boutique store, it looked miserable.:o

Worst HD disc ever.... Nice to see a new one. I'm curious to see how the exchange works, I requested mine...

I am kind of curious too. I sent my disc in on Tuesday last week and they are supposed to be shipping on July 17th but I am going out of town the 18th so I won't find out until I am back the following Monday. Needless to say I am excited to see what they do with it as well.

Requested mine last week too...
One of the funniest things though, I was at Best Buy last week and they were using Fifth Element as a Blu-ray demo! Boneheads...

I got my new copy in the mail today. Its a pretty big difference comparing to the original. Not bad turn around considering it came out less than a week ago. Surprisingly good support from Sony.

I went to Fry's last weekend, hoping they'd have one of the new ones for sale, but alas no. All 3 copies said "2006" on the price tag. I guess I could have bought one and exchanged it.

I have the Superbit release, paid 9.00 bucks for it, looks just as good as my buddy's Bluray release. Great movie, IMO destined to become a classic Sci-Fi flick.

Was it ever realised in 70mm six-track Dolby stereo magnetic sound? I have the DVD and it looks okay I think I saw it in Dolby stereo SR at the UCI wasn’t sure if The Fifth Element was 70mm presentation.
Have you seen Fifth Element on Laserdisc?

They are the same transfer, or rather, they used the same master is what I read. From what I read, the BD is improved from the Superbit. I have both, I will give them a compare when my darn replacement disc finally shows up.

But it definitely has nice visuals and sound. Mill Jovovich is the perfect being?!? Please. If she was perfect, she would have had bigger cans.

I was thinking the same thing....She's still nice to look at though, but a cheese burger or two wouldn't hurt.

I completely agree there. I am not for the whole emaciated look but for some reason I think that puts me in the weird crowd :).

It finally showed up last night. I gave it a spin and I have to say there are still some grainy scenes, but overall the PQ is MUCH better than before. Was busy so I didn't get to compare the SB to it; might have to wait until the weekend to do a good compare.

I have the SB and the remastered BD looks better. The remaster was apparently done from the same print as the SB this time around. Plus you have the TrueHD track...
