I've been entertaining the thought of getting a new display for awhile. Today, walking through walmart, i saw a sanyo 42" plasma, 720p/1080i 10,000:1 contrast ratio, hdmi in, with a stand, on clearance for $750 bucks. is this as good of a deal as i think it is?

thanks!

If it works, has no problems, and comes with a remote I would jump on it.:)

Ooh, that takes some value out of the TV.:D The cost just went up to double that because you need to get her something just as nice.:D Or, if you are lucky, she is just trying to save money.;)

I've read that Wal-Mart is seriously putting the hurt on other retailers of flat screen TVs, basically driving down prices so aggressively that they're a big factor in the woes of guys like CC. Many analysts didn't foresee that the prices would be this low for almost another year.

I bought a simple HDTV and gaming system, the Sony KD-34XBR970 and the Xbox360. When I told my wife what I wanted to get she said ok but she wanted to see it first. So we went to the store and the first thing she said was why don't we get a bigger flat screen LCD or plasma, LoL. After explaining my reason for getting the tube she said great then we can get a new washer and dryer (for the house, of course). Then since I was getting new toys she wanted a new laptop, wtf. My bill went from $1,200 to $3,000  in less than an hour. If I had known we could spend 3k I would have gotten a 50"+ HDTV.

Good Luck,
