Pioneer Debuts Project KURO

Amidst much fanfare, Pioneer unveiled it's new line of plasma panels. Eight new panels were shown to the press last Wednesday, all with the promise to have ultra-high black level performance. The new lines will consist of four panels for the Elite and four panels for the Pioneer divisions. Each will carry two XGA models in 42-inch and 50-inch screen sizes and two in the 50-inch and 60-inch sizes sporting full 1080p.

Sorry, you'll have to wait till the tech-gurus get their hands on one when they're released, Pioneer is being tigh-lipped about Project KURO, they did give a nod to SED technology for their new direction in research and implementation.

There is already a thread about these plasmas over at AVSforum. They were first shown at CES this january and there is some leaks on specs.

I didn't see the thread over at AVS, this story is there though. As for the the specs which I couldn't find, who ever put them up must work at Pioneer to have leaked them, these units aren't on the market as yet and Project Kuro was initiated just recently, the panels were formally presented to the press last Wednesday as part of KURO and then Pioneer wouldn't give out specs.

I traced back the poster site, it looks like its Eastern European, interesting indeed.
