it was dragging in some parts ... the movie was 2 hours plus ...
not enough action between Venom and Spidey
too much drama in between scenes
action between Sandman and Goblin was a bit corny
is it showing there already?

Well, the second one is probably my favorite superhero movie ever, so there's no stopping me from seeing this one...hope I'm not too disappointed.

I reallly enjoyed this flick as well. The only dissapointment I had was I watched a midnight showing and high school students laugh at the stupidest things. Bernerd (the butler of the Osborn mansion) says, "I loved your father" to Harry and every moron in the croud started laughing, how is that funny?

Perhaps they laughed in ignorance when it went over their head in meaning.
I went about 11am, much better crowd. The teens were still asleep:D

Hi,
Spiderman 3 did not do it for me. I thought it was the weakest of the three. The whole sandman plot line seemed like an after thought and they had to figure out a way to make it work with the rest of the story. The nice special effects just did not make up for the weak plot and the overacting IMO. I was disappointed enough that I will not go see a fourth one unless there is an all new director and writer/screenplay writer. "nuff said."

I liked it. Good visual effects, and good sound effects too. Lots of bass. Story wasn't inline, but still entertaining.

PheatonThe wife and I thought it was OK. I think that Venom was very well done. I don't know why they went with 3 villians. It was too much. Not enough character development with anyone. My theory is that the director figured that Toby wouldn't be coming back for another movie, so they had to cram all the ideas they had into this one. They should have just stuck to Goblin and Venom.
***SPOILER***
I think the team-up at the end was a little corny, but still kinda cool.

Okay, this movie wasn't as bad as the George Clooney Batman flick, but that's not saying much. The special effects *are* nice in it, but the story was just too disjointed.
***** spoilers *****
I liked the team up at the end, too, even though it was a bit corny. Actually, on the corniness scale, that was nothing compared to the Spiderman in front of the American flag shot.
And what's up with the "bad" Peter Parker pulling his bangs into his eyes?

I actually liked the teamup.
but the venom storyline/action sequence was too short ... lose the sandman boohoo family story AND the uncle Ben Killing story line, move all that saved film space to the venom storyline, and this would have been a killer movie.
oh and I agree with phoenix that the flag shot was corny.

He only looks emo, I got a good laugh out of that as did my friend. No one else in the packed theater thought it was funny but us, "sigh, high schoolers"

yeah, Peter Parker, emo-kid. Pretty funny, I thought.
I liked it, but definitely overdone, overlong. I'm sure Raimi wanted to make sure he topped the previous one in terms of action, etc., but all-in-all it felt like he was trying too hard.

That wasn't the only thing in the movie that was emo! I agree that the whole thing seemed a little overacted. And I agree that losing the whole sandman back story would have vastly improved this movie.

Didn't do it for me, Toby strutting like John John Travolta on crack was the best part of the movie. Not enough action sequences, not enough character development, great DVD movie.

It broke some records, first day gross record and it is currently the most expensive movie.:)

I thought Stan Lee's cameo was brilliant, 'nuff said.

I thought it was pretty good, not great, but pretty good. As usual, the FX were excellent and Toby Mcquire did his usual job on a continuing character. My local theater (The Senator in Baltimore) has an amazing sound system and bass in the scene where the Sandman is made made my clothes blow back (literally; I got nauseous). I think some of the character development that made the first two movies work was short in this one. Everybody is pretty much what they were made in the previous movies but nothing new happened. I think they should have stuck with one new monster, either Sandman or Venom but not both.

That alone was worth the price of admission. There's something about that guy that just rankles me. He was OK in that 70's show, but everything he's been in since then he just seems a little to pleased with himself.
Now, for some random thoughts.
Great action scenes. The giant sandman and Venom scenes were fantastic. Gotta love JJ Jamison and his blood pressure problems and Ted Raimi is always good for a laugh. Likewise, Stan Lee just has to make a cameo.
That American flag scene was a hoot.
Peter's gotta be the dumbest person alive to kiss that blond in publiic, and in front of MJ, and not think she would be upset.
The dancing scene in the bar was a bit much but I guess that's what a little symboite can do.
It was nice to see the goblin Jr (name escapes me) finally take his revenge and eventually realize the truth about his dad's death. Too bad it was a little too late. He would have made a good ally in the future.
The boo-hoo sandman story was a cop-out.
...and, from seeing this on an IMAX screen (68th & Broadway, NYC) , we realized that MJ has hairy arms and man-hands.
but, for a summer action flick, I'll give it an 8 out of a 10 and definitly would see a fourth if it manifests itself. I think Sam Raimi does a good job with this franchise.

Spiderman 3 was very good...My wife and I enjoyed it especially in the Imax Theater! It was a more "Psychological Spiderman" but still I thought it was done well. maybe a couple of "cheesy" moments. I give it 4 **** Stars:D
