Texas Instruments during the 2007 CTIA Wireless convention will be demonstrating, to select media, a prototype of a DLP pico-projector small enough to fit on your finger tips. The latest DLP innovation from the world leader in mobile projection solutions enables compelling viewing options that expand beyond the limitations of a physical screen for mobile users of cellular phones, digital cameras and portable media players.

Great idea. Is this LED bulb driven and what would be the cost to integrate the chipset into a mobile device.

It had BETTER be LED driven, lol. It will need to be very affordable - and will need to get even smaller than it is now for it to truly take off. There is also very little mention of light output or contrast. Daylight viewing is essential so it likely needs to put out a good amount of light to a 15-17 inch screen in order to be successful.

DLP seems a bit overcomplicated for this type pf application, honestly - but it can't hurt.

Obviously I would assume this would not use a color wheel but some variation of a 3 chip DLP?

That would seem to be quite costly unless they are really cutting back on chip size and resolution support.

Single chip and LEDs to replace the color wheel.
