I was looking over the bluejeanscable website and saw a cable called the HD15 to RGB (RCA) ...
I want to use the component ins on my receiver so that I wouldn't have to switch sources on the LCD (to the PC input) when I watch something from my PC
here are my questions:
1) will PQ suffer when I use this cable VGA output from PC to HD15 to RGB cable to the component ins on the receiver? (as compared to using a VGA cable directly from the PC to the PC input on my LCD)
2) is HD15 the same as the VGA plug?
I don't know if there will be any PQ diffference but D15 IS the name of the VGA connector (don't know where the 'H' in HD15 comes from).
VGA is RGB and the sync pulses are usually carried on Green. So I would bet that the adapter is just wired to send the R, G, and B to each respective wire of the component connection and the sync pins on the D15 are wired to the Blue or Green. It should be the same as D15 to D15 but who knows?
Try it and let us all know. :)

Yes, your picture will suffer drastically - as in you won't have a picture if you do this.
2) is HD15 the same as the VGA plug?
HD15 is the proper name for a VGA plug.

Unless your PC has a graphics card that specifically outputs in the component video color space you will not be able to do what you are trying to do without an active VGA to component video transcoder (not a cable).
