switched to hdmi,now pic is flashing/snow

I recently purchased a 37" sharp aquos.I am having a problem with my cable box,so i tryed to figure it out and ran into another.When i switched the hdmi cable from the dvd to cable box and input from # 1 to # 4, the pic on the tv flashes.Sometimes its all snow,or just black for 5 seconds before it shows the channel.I was prevoiusly using component cables for the tv.Before the switching of cables and inputs,everything was fine.

Sometimes it takes a few seconds for HDMI to sync up after switching inputs or even stations on a cable box. This varies by cable box and TV.

It is normal that in HDMI/DVI signals occures problems with longer cables. Simply because HDMI/DVI signals are designed for maximum of 3 meter transfer. You have two options (att least). First option is to buy better quality cable (I can recommend Lindy and I think they are guaranteed for as long as 15 m). Second option is to use a HDMI switch, that has an amplifier for the signal.
