Trying to debate between 2 speaker systems any help would be appreciated.

I have a dedicated 15 x 20 home theater room. My receiver is Pioneer VSX-82TXS. I am wanting to go 7.1 surround

Axiom:
Epic 60 - 350 Components
Front Tower Speakers M60
Centers VP150
Surrounds QS8 (4 of these)
Subwoofer EP350

vs

Klipsch:
Front RF-82
Center RC-62
Surrounds RS-52 (4 of these)
Subwoofer RW-12

Thanks

can't comment on axiom. i can comment on klipsch.

we have a dedicated theater with klipsch running off a yamaha 2700. i find the klipsch speakers to be great for theater. for the price and considering their high efficiency, i find them to be hard to beat for movies.

for detailed, critical music listening, i find klipsch has a little bit missing, but no big deal. in any case, i can offer one vote for klipsch for your theater. it has worked for me.

Axiom allows an in house trial of all speakers, why not call and try them out yourself?

Rowdy,

What type of Klipsch speakers do you have? Do you use them for music or theater?

Jaxlax,

That is true that they allow a trial but you have to send them back and that can cost a couple hundred just for that. Can anyone correct me on that?

I've never heard Axiom either, but I have heard the Klipsch. Klipsch are very good speakers. However, if it were me, I would upgrade my center speaker to the RC-64. I realize it is almost double the price, but that is the most important speaker to you. I have about the same sized room and am doing about the same setup. What part of the country do you live in? I know some Klipsch dealers.

Let me jump in on the Klipsch bandwagon. I virtually have the set up you describe in option 2, except I have the RF-83s instead of the RF-82s (for pictures see http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27138 ). These speakers sound great in my room, both movies and music (including CD, DVD-V, DVD-A, and SACD). I went with the RC-62 over the RC-63 center channel due to the fact that the RC-63 was too heavy for my TV stand. Also, when I was listening to the various speakers I was considering buying, I did listen to both the RC-63 and the RC-62 and really couldn't tell much difference between the two in terms of audio quality.

i would like to see the total price for those 2 systems. i own some entry level Axiom bookshelfs, and couldn't be happier. As soon as i get some more money i plan on setting up my HT with axioms. the costumer service is incredible as well.

LOL, you were set on Klipsch but listened to others? I wouldn't buy anything from what people say on forums, most have never even seen or heard gear they comment on. I would listen to the setups I want and decide myself.
Good luck and enjoy, Axiom make great stuff too.

You should hear this system...:D

In general, I find Klipsch to be a decent home theater speaker but I don't care for them for music. I find Axioms to be equally adept for home theater purpose and have more balance for listening to music so in general I'd prefer the Axioms.

I don't think you'll go wrong with either for your money, but if you haven't heard the Axioms I'd recomment getting a pair in for a trial at home to give them a chance. Axiom has a good trial period from what I recall.

Thanks for the info everyone

Rolyasm,
I live in Utah I was going to go through a Klipsch dealer (audio/video intergrated systems). I will keep that into consideration on the upgrading the center channel.

I dont have any, but a friend of mine just picked up som RF-82's and is working on gettin either a RF-62 or RF-64 center. Id say we did an equal amount of both when listening. They handle everything in stride and are very efficient. I was also suprised at how much bass they had.

Axiom offers great value for money and have a good rep on this forum, while Klipsch is a globally known brand. Both companies make some great speakers. After everything is said and done, an opinion is an opinion and there will be as many as there are replies. The only way to decide will be for YOU to demo both.

The Axiom website has a list of owners whom you can call on for a demo. I am sure you can find something similar for Klipsch.

Happy hunting.

PS. Did I mention that I love my Axioms ;-)

it's true, the shipping may seem steep,
but if i'm looking to spend thousands of dollars on an entire set-up, i want to know that i am getting the best speakers for my ears.
If it takes me 5-10% in shipping costs to return a few sets, then so be it.
plus i won't ever have that 'what if...' in the bcak of my mind :)

Axiom - hands down winner. That's for me of course, only your ears can tell you what you like. My ears hear Klipsch and scream "ooooooooooouch!" :p
