View Full Version : Websites for Vinyl Junkies
Is there a website of the caliber of Audioholics that gives honest, snake-oil free evaluations of turntables and cartridges? I still have over 400 LPs that I enjoy once in awhile, but I don't want to invest in the ultra-pricey stuff I see at places like Acoustic Sounds, etc. Good Lord, they sell a record cleaner that costs $23,000!

Good god man,1904:eek:
Are you sure that old a model even used a needle,i thought the real old stuff like that used a peice of cut steel that was very sharp instead of a needle.
Either way if you get that sucker up & running please post a ton of pics,i love seeing stuff that old.

We used cactus needles, worked wonders, a couple of guys named Fred and Barney clued us in, never been the same around the cave, that whole electric thing, bah, magic, who can understand it?

They just placed a brad type nail in it. Take a compass point and that will work miracles:D

I apologize for hijacking the thread. :(
yeah theyre not really needles per se more like if you cut the tip off an ice pick...and it plays records.. I have probably 100+ old Edison records and others... old foxtrots and Susa marches and operas... inherited it a short while back.. Ill try and take a few pics tomorrow and put em up here so yall can take a look... I was actually shocked how loud it can play using nothing more than basically a horn in a box... I have to yell to be heard if I'm standing in front of it... it's actually working well now it's just that the old needles are a bit rounded off... had to take the turntable and mechanism out and re-grease the gears and such inside because the old grease had gotten a little too stiff with age

Mate, that thing should be in a museum, what a beautiful piece of history.
Have you ever had it valued?
Have a search on ebay.
