hdtv converters

just aquick question. i have a sony hs20 projector, but living in the uk where we dont have hdtv. i was wondering if there was a product that you could connect to your existing sat/cable signal that would then output through hdmi or dvi cables. i know the picture wouldn't be in hd quality but it would make it easier to conect through the projector.
any ideas feedback would be welcomed
