I am adding a small room (12x15) to my house that will include a flatscreen TV and surround sound system. Screen on short wall, listening/viewing area about 9-10 feet away. Looking at Paradigm Cinema 110 or maybe Atoms and cc-170 up front. ADPs seem like good choice for rears, but for various reasons may need to go in-ceiling. Is that a mistake? If not, what Paradigms should I consider?

My personal tastes tend to lead me away from cieling mounted speakers for HT or serious audio listening.

They're fine for background music or possibly rear surrounds, but for the front three I feel you will be better served with wall mounted speakers for the directionality. You want voices cominfg from as close to the screen as possible, not over your heads.

There are mixed feelings about in-ceilings. I’ve had mine in use over two years now and love them. Paradigm’s in-ceiling speaker drivers are fixed which means they’ll only fire straight down. I generally prefer in-ceiling surrounds with some aimability. Polk and Def Tech offer products that will work well in your situation.

in celings typically do not have the performance of a similarly priced external speaker
