first my home theater specs.

Sony SS-MF550H Fonts
Sony SS-CN550H Center
Sony Subwoofer SA-WM500 12"
Surround speakers None
Receiver Pioneer vsx 816K
Speaker wires thx standard version
audio cables monster cable.

my question is this.
i have some dialog issues on some movies that i watch. on dvd's.
when i was watching matrix part 2,the voice dialog was very low in some parts of the movie. i did do the auto calibrating that was built into the receiver. all the wires are red to black from speaker to receiver. but most other movies that i own don't have the low dialog. just the matrix movies. does anyone esl have this issue? with matrix 1 2 3?

Movies are mastered at different levels although the average dialog level is supposed to be -31 dB.

I haven't watched any of the Matrix in awhile but I do recall the dialog seems to be lower than many other movies.

Have you tried using dynamic compression (aka 'late night' mode)? It will reduce the peaks and loud explosions a little bit but often makes the dialog more intelligible.

yea, i did try that setting, dynamic compression late night mode. and it didn't help one bit.i guess some movie makers have different taste on audio levels.
