I did, I actually found them on the web. They had an official site and all. I thought for sure they were legit, so I don't want anyone else falling for this too. But for some reason I can't find there site any more. I also saw them in crutchfields catalog. "Ellite Audio" Well I won't say how much I spent, but The speakers do work and They don't sound too bad. Probably not worth what I paid , but I am stuck with them now. I can be so gulable.
Here is a link explaining it more. Watch out for these punks.

Yes they are everywhere. I have a thread on the topic and I believe Elite Audio is one of the scams on the "don't buy list". Careful using the speakers as they may be very low ohms and could cause troubles for your amplifier. If you notice your amp or receiver is getting very hot driving the speakers at moderate volumes then I would recommend not using them anymore.
When did you get the speakers, and what is the model #?

I got them last summer. I am not sure of the model #, but I'll check. I believe the ohms are 6~8 or something like that.

You can't go by what the specs say, they won't give you accurate ratings. They probably also have a frequency responce like this too don't they?, 35hz-20khz or maybe even 20hz-20khz.

How so?
Ha, I went to Sharper Image today and saw the lamest stuff you could ever see, much worse than Bose and White Van speakers. Actually one of the pair of speakers S.I. has looks White Van, and they carry Bose go figure.

Heeey Seth,
My definition of BOSE attack: you have the radio on as background, all of the sudden the volume goes up and lo and behold you've been side swiped by a BOSE commercial, quickly you drop what you're doing and head for the radio like a rabid mad man, but by the time you get there they're done peddleing their poison.:D
Sharper Image is: dumb-richman's boutique, expensive crap that doesn't work.
I especially like their catalog exclamations (or excrements) "DESIGNED HERE",
as if their designs were so cutting edge.

You are right. Their speakers are designed for looks (some of them do look nice), but sound terrible.
I doubt that Sharper Image or Bose have anything that beats the hilarity of these "Digital Research" speaker boxes though. (Yes, the boxes are funnier than the speakers.) Parts to note: "7.1 Cinema series II" when only two speakers were provided, "dts", "aluminized" (sic), "Dolby Digital", impedance somehow measured in "db/ 1W/1M" (sic), "Digital", "Imported MDF", "DVD", "Frequency response ... (+2 db)" (sic), and the grand finale (hard to read in that photo) "Suggested Price: $999.00 each".

Why must they always import the wood?
I would not be surprised to find "wood imported from America" in the UK, and "wood imported from England" in the USA. (We also have pretty classy wood here in South-Africa. Look out for "Wood imported from Knysna, South-Africa." That should give a really nice sound - never mind the drivers.)

If they're importing anything, it's the saw dust!

"custom crossover circuitry for pounding lows"
wow... Talk about a professional description
I know a guy who bought an entire Digital Research surround sound system off ebay for like 400 bucks for the entire package. It was kind of funny when I first went over to his place because he was telling me how they have 1000 watts power handling and all these things and how they are like 3000 dollar speakers. I just smiled and complimented him. No use saying theyre white van junk, They look alright and he likes them so no reason to spoil the fun.

I feel about as sorry for people that fall for this as I do for those who fall for the Nigerian scams. Who's putting these people's pants on for them?

Most MDF and ply at home depot is made in China, so technically it is imported.

I'm new here and I don't wanna come across as a total scuz bag but I can't help myself. I sold those things. 15 years ago we had to give the company $100 a piece for those things. If we got more we split it. Just breaking even on them was okay because the company had contests and insentives for selling like 5 pair in a day or 20 pair a week. Sometimes your bonus would be a free pair of speakers that you could sell or keep.
So it was organized. Regardless of what we told people the speakers were not stolen. We never got 4 pairs instead of 4 speakers, meaning 4 extra that we had to dump before we got back to the warehouse. We were really selling ilicit situations more than speakers. We always refered to them as monitors. It was the deal people were buying. Ooooh.....1000watts....Ooooh.....$999 MSRP....Ooooh.....Stolen. I was a lousy salesman and tried it for a week. I did manage to sell a pair to an off duty cop. He first checked our invoices and business licence and our drivers licences. If I remember right he promised to track us down if there was a problem.
Oh yeah, depending on the insentive sometimes it was worth it to dump a pair below cost just to hit a magic number to collect the bonus. If you bought a pair don't feel too bad. Those sales guys are good. It's their job. They do that all day long. Everyday. And trust me, it's not easy. At least not for me. And they look good. Liquid cooled too. If you see these guys coming try pitching them first, "Wanna buy a pair of monitors?!?!?"
